With just under 1 month left until the biggest gaming event in Upstate NY, we are happy to announce TWO MORE amazing special guests!

Master Daniel Pesina, the actor who played Johnny Cage, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, and Noob Saibot, as well as being one of the co-creators of the legendary fighting games Mortal Kombat & Mortal Kombat II is coming to RetroGameCon!

Daniel is joined by actor, entrepreneur, and bodybuilder John Parrish, who portrayed Major Jackson “Jax” Briggs in MKII, MK3, Ultimate MK3, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, MK4, and Mortal Kombat Advance.

These two motion capture pioneers and Kombat legends will be joining us on November 18th & 19th!

Well, we already sort of announced it, but if you missed the news, we’re glad to let you know that Pat Contri, aka Pat the NES Punk, host of the Completely Unnecessary Podcast, producer of The Video Game Years, and author/creator of Ultimate Nintendo: Guide to the NES Library is returning to RetroGameCon for our fifth-year anniversary show on November 18th and 19th!

He’ll be there to meet and greet with attendees, and will also be bringing back his popular panel presentation.

RetroGameCon 5 Keynote Presentation Announcement!

Join us on day 1 (Saturday, November 18th) at 2:00PM in Panel Room A downstairs as RGC 5 special guests David Crane & Garry Kitchen present a retrospective of their experiences as programmers and entrepreneurs in the early video game industry!

David is well known as an iconic programmer and game designer for Atari, creating the 2nd best-selling game for the Atari 2600, Pitfall!, as well as a variety of other hit games for the console, as well as A Boy & His Blob for NES, and David Crane’s Amazing Tennis for the N64. David was also a co-founder of Activision, the world’s first independent video game developer, and today the largest publisher of video games in the U.S.

Garry, also a legendary game designer from the early days, is the creator of Garry Kitchen’s GameMaker for the Commodore 64, as well as developer of many popular Atari 2600 games such as the original arcade port of Donkey Kong. He also went on to create NES classics like Battletank & The Simpsons: Bart vs. the Space Mutants, as well as Super Battletank, and Super Battletank 2 for the SNES.

Together David and Garry were also the founders of Absolute Entertainment, a game publishing studio responsible for dozens of titles on a variety of classic gaming consoles. The pair were also the founders of Skyworks Technologies, a company that pioneered advergaming and created the classic early flash game website, Candystand.

Classic Trilogy Tattoos will be at RetroGameCon 5!

We’re pleased to announce that Classic Trilogy Tattoos will be coming to RGC 5!

Classic Trilogy, operated by Syracuse’s own Thom Bulman, is a premiere local tattoo shop specializing in creating geeky video game, comic book, and pop culture art through the work of Mr. Bulman and several other exceptionally talented Syracuse tattoo artists.

Aside from creating nerd masterpieces every day, Bulman and fellow Classic Trilogy artist Derek Zielinski were featured on Season 9 of Ink Master on Spike!

We can’t wait to welcome these guys to RetroGameCon on November 18th & 19th!

VIP After Party Announcement!

This year’s VIP & Staff after party will take place at The Mission Restaurant at 304 East Onondaga Street, Syracuse.

This post-show event is for staff, special guests, and VIP ticket holders AGES 21+ only and takes place on Saturday, November 18th, from 8:30PM until 12:00AM and will feature live music by Chipocrite and a FREE taco buffet and cash bar.

Yes, we said it. Free taco buffet. Let it sink in.

The Mission is a Mexican restaurant in a re-purposed church (the oldest in Syracuse) and you can’t miss it – it’s right in the heart of downtown Syracuse next to Columbus Circle. A 5 minute walk from our venue, The Oncenter!

RetroGameCon 5’s Amazing Guest List!

RetroGameCon 5 has a great line-up of special guests, musicians, and cosplayers for 2017! Join us on Saturday, November 18th and Sunday, November 19th and meet two legends of the gaming industry, David Crane Garry Kitchen!

Also joining us is actor Nadia Verrucci, the voice of Juno from the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

We’re also welcoming the incredibly talented Charles Urbach, an award-winning artist who has done artwork for Magic the Gathering and many great tabletop / card games.

David Crane joins RetroGameCon 5!


David Crane is a legendary game designer and programmer who created several mega-hits for the Atari 2600, including Pitfall!, the second best-selling game on the Atari behind Pac-Man!

Pitfall sold over 4 million copies in the 1980s and was a breakthrough in the platformer genre which went on to inspire countless video games, and it’s legacy as one of the best early video games continues through today.

In 1979, David also co-founded Activision, the world’s first third-party video game developer, and today the largest publisher of video games in the country. He is also known as the co-founder of Absolute Entertainment, which produced several successful games in the 1990s including David Crane’s Amazing Tennis and A Boy and His Blob: Trouble on Blobolonia for the NES, plus several of the Simpsons games for the Game Boy and NES systems.

David will be joining us at RetroGameCon 5 to discuss those early days, and to meet with attendees and sign some cartridges!

It’s a huge honor to welcome David, a true pioneer of the video game industry, to Syracuse! We can’t wait to meet him!

We’re pleased to announce that RetroGameCon 5 will feature a HUGE cosplay contest with over $1000 in prizes!

As usual, we will be hosting a number of extremely talented cosplay special guests at the show, including our 2017 Guest Judges DestinyambersmzeldarulesRabbit in the Moon Cosplay, and Harv Cosplay!

We will post more details about the cosplay contest soon, as well as our other cosplay-related activities. We can’t wait to see all of the amazing talent this year!
