Charity – Extra Life
We are proud to have Extra Life as the official charity for RetroGameCon.
What is Extra Life?
Extra Life unites thousands of players around the world in a gaming marathon each year to support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2008, Extra Life has raised more than $22 million for local CMN Hospitals.
The RetroGameCon team is on a mission to save kids through gaming, and we need your help. Every penny of every donation goes towards the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital in downtown Syracuse, where thousands of children are treated each year, regardless of their family’s ability to pay. These kids are facing scary stuff like cancer, cystic fibrosis, and injuries from accidents to name just a few.
Our goal for this year as a community is to have 75 gamers raising $75 or more for the Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. If we can reach this goal, Syracuse will be given Extra Life “Guild” status which will enable us to do even better next year!
We will be raising money for Extra Life in a variety of different ways:
Raffle Baskets: Thanks to our extremely generous supporters/sponsors, raffle baskets for charity have become a staple at RGC. We’ll have a dozen or more raffles, loaded with gaming goods, up for raffle with $1 tickets being sold at the event. 100% of the proceeds of our raffle goes to Extra Life.
The Extra Life Stage: Located in the main vendor/exhibit hall next to our video game free play area, the Extra Life Stage is an interactive exhibit where attendees can come and play games with our friends at GameShell on a huge 12′ projector screen. GameShell will also be streaming the whole experience online at twitch.tv/gameshell
The Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital: Our local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, Upstate Golisano will have a table near the Extra Life Stage where they will be recruiting for Extra Life and sharing information about their amazing efforts to help sick kids at the hospital.
